Wednesday
7:30am – My alarm woke me and it was time to head home. How could my trip be over already? It seemed like I’d not been there 5 minutes. I got myself together, packed the car and headed off towards Venice. Sods law it was an absolutely beautiful day, blue sky fluffy clouds and great visibility. C’est la vie I guess. As I got closer to Venice and the terrain flattened out I could see the dolomites in the far distance, I stopped to take a quick snap. Why oh why couldn’t Tuesday have had weather like today! The peaks were shrouded in low cloud which would been immense to photograph from high up. I took the car back and got dropped off at the airport, had some food then boarded my flight home. I arrived back at Edinburgh at about 2pm and set off home, stopping off at Smailholm tower for 10 minutes near the Northumberland border on the way. I was passing and the light was really nice so the 5 minute detour was definitely worth a look!
My trip was amazing, despite the bad weather on Tuesday and the disappointment of missing sunset at Val Gardena I still had an incredible time. I saw some amazing places, took a shed load of photos, ate lovely food and met a bunch of nice people. I can’t wait to go back in the autumn when the colours are at their best and its a bit warmer!
My last glimpse of the Dolomites before dropping the car off and heading back to the airport!
